Considerations When Visiting the Mountain

Upon your visit to Mt Majura we want you to have an enjoyable, enlightening and safe trip that contributes to your well being as well as that of the Mountain itself. To do this, we at Blue Gum have a number of considerations we keep in mind upon our visits. Please take the time to read the below information and consider before engaging with the trail.

Minimal Environmental Impact

Blue Gum Community School adheres to the 7 Principals of Leave No Trace when visiting the mountain and would ask all who visit to do the same as a minimum.

Additional, Mt Majura is a nature reserve that is managed by Parks ACT. It is essential to check for any local Alerts, follow all official signage and laws that pertain to visiting any reserves. Please visit the Parks ACT website to find out more.

Safety

It is important to consider the safety of yourself and all other with you when visiting Mt Majura. The Blue Gum community always engages in risk/benefit assessments where educators and students discuss the potential outcomes of potentially risky actions. This along with knowing what to expect, such as the weather, before you visit should always be practiced.

It is essential that, while visiting, your group prepares by having:

  • the right clothing for the time of year and weather

  • food and water appropriate to the length of the visit

  • appropriate group first aid

  • a mobile phone
