Mt Majura Discovery Trail

In our 25th year as a school, Blue Gum Community School welcomes you to a celebration of our ongoing relationship with with Mount Majura

For decades, students at Blue Gum Community School have found inspiration, education and personal growth while exploring, playing and challenging themselves, as well as enjoying quiet contemplation, on Mt Majura Nature Reserve.

It is a very special place for our whole school community, full of memories together with physical, intellectual and emotional sustenance.

So, we wish to acknowledge and pay our respects to the First Nations people whose land we now have the privilege of sharing.

We share with you our students’ Acknowledgement of Country –

We would like to acknowledge and pay respect to the elders past, present and future.

We respect the Ngunnawal people and acknowledge that we are living and meeting on Ngunnawal land.

Thank you for taking care of the land, supporting plants to grow, animals to live and water to flow, and only taking what you need.

To let the spirits and ancestors know we are here and mean no harm, we invite you to clap together after the count of 3.

1, 2, 3.

As Winnie the Pooh declared when mapping his Hundred Acre Wood -

It isn’t much good having anything exciting if you can’t share it with somebody.

Explore the locations and have your own experiences by clicking the below location titles.

The total length of the trail is 1.3km, so it could be covered by foot quickly and is achievable for many. Simply visiting each location is not the aim of this project. Upon visiting each link above you will first be welcomed with directions on how to get there: these will be from the previous location in the designated order. You will also find prompts for engaging with the space, and reflections from Blue Gum community’s history. We invite you to use these as inspiration on how you can enjoy and extend your engagement with these spaces.
